The Azumi AZ2SRBO is designed for the student who has moved beyond the limitations of a beginning flute and is ready for greater tonal color, projection, control, and response.
At the heart of the AZ2 is an Altus Professional Z-Cut™ .925 sterling silver headjoint, giving the advancing player a more responsive and expressive instrument without making the jump to a fully professional flute.
Why the AZ2 feels different from a student flute
Moving to a step-up flute is not simply about getting more silver or additional keys. A worthwhile upgrade should make it easier for the player to create the sound they are hearing in their head.
Altus Professional Z-Cut™ Headjoint
The AZ2 uses an Altus professional Z-Cut headjoint made from .925 sterling silver. It is designed for quick response, clean articulation, and a full, expressive sound throughout the flute's registers.
For an advancing player, that can mean greater control over dynamics, articulation, and tonal color without having to fight the instrument.
Altus Scale
Azumi instruments use the Altus scale, developed to promote consistent intonation and balance from register to register.
That becomes increasingly important as students move into more demanding repertoire, auditions, honor ensembles, and advanced school music programs.
Open-Hole Keywork
Open-hole keys are standard on many intermediate and professional flutes and allow the player to develop more refined hand position and advanced playing techniques.
Students transitioning from a closed-hole flute can use plugs while becoming comfortable with the new keywork.
B Footjoint with Gizmo Key
The B footjoint extends the flute's range to low B and adds slightly more mass to the instrument. The included Gizmo key helps improve response on fourth-octave C.
