COMPLETE DAMAGE ASSURANCE

Q. What is the Complete Damage Assurance (CDA)?

It is an optional waiver of liability for you and your rental instrument. For an extra $6.00 monthly, you will not be liable for the total value of your instrument in the event of loss or total damage. In such an event, a deductible would have to be paid. The amount of the deductibles depend on which “Group” the instrument falls under. The deductibles are as follows: Group A: $75, Group B: $150, Group C: $200, Group D: $300.

In order to help explain its benefits, here is an example of how the CDA would be used:

John rents a Clarinet with a retail value of $1,050 for his son, James. He elects to pay for the CDA coverage. One month later, one of James’ classmates at school accidentally bumps into it and knocks it to the ground. The Clarinet now has a crack in one of its tenons, which is irreparable. John would normally be liable for (and be required to pay) the full $1,050 value of the instrument. However, since he is covered under the CDA, he would pay the $75 deductible, and be furnished with a replacement Clarinet rental. He saved $975.00

Q. Can I purchase the Complete Damage Assurance (CDA) after I've left the store?

Yes! However, we would need to physically inspect your rental instrument to make sure damage has not already been done to it. Therefore, a second trip to the music store will be necessary. This is why we strongly urge customers to make the purchase at time of rental.

Q. Can I purchase a second CDA plan for my rental instrument?

No. The Complete Damage Assurance plan is a one-time purchase per rental contract.  Our insurer sets this parameter forth.

EXCHANGING YOUR RENTAL INSTRUMENT

Q. Can I exchange my rental instrument for a different brand instrument?

Yes! Depending on availability, we will try our best to exchange your instrument to a brand of your choosing.

Q. Can I change instrument types during my trial period?

Yes! An instrument type can be changed at anytime (provided the account is up to date). There is a $15.00 exchange fee to cover cleaning, preparation and clerical work. Also, depending on what new instrument you want to switch to, there may be an increase in monthly rental fee.

REPAIRING YOUR RENTAL INSTRUMENT

Q. If my instrument needs maintenance, can I bring it anywhere to get it fixed?

No. All repair work must be done by one of our approved technicians.

Q. Are broken strings covered under my rental contract?

No. Strings are not covered, even with the Complete Damage Assurance.

Q. "My bow doesn't work!" or "I can't get my instrument to make any sound using the bow.”

Make sure the bow hair is tight (but not too tight!), and rub a sufficient amount of rosin on the bow hair to have the bow hair stick to the strings and create sound. Bows will not produce sound without enough rosin.

Q. My instrument's case broke, am I responsible for its replacement?

Normal wear and tear is acceptable. Worn material edges, loose handles, broken zipper pulls, bow retainers and inner pocket doors do come loose or break from time to time and are generally not something the customer should worry about.

However, If your instrument's case has been abused (e.g. crushed by the car, stepped or sat on, submerged), you are liable for the cost of the case. A lost handle will be charged for.

PURCHASING YOUR RENTAL INSTRUMENT

Q. What is the purchase price of my instrument?

The purchase price of your instrument is equal to the Retail Price of that instrument, which can be found near the bottom left of your rental contract in the “For Office Use Only” box.

Q. How much of my rental payments may be applied toward purchasing an instrument?

Before factoring in taxes, your monthly payment consists of 2 parts:

1. The “Maintenance” amount (20%)

2. The "Principle" amount (80%) (This is the amount that you can apply toward purchasing an instrument)

Q. Can I purchase a new instrument with my rental monies?

Yes!

Q. Can I purchase an intermediate-level instrument with my rental monies?

Yes!

BILLING

Q. How am I billed?

The easiest method of payment is to supply us with a valid credit card (VISA, MC, Discover, or AMEX). Your credit card will be charged automatically on the 1 month anniversary date that your rental began.

We also accept other forms of payment, such as cash and check. In our experience, these alternative methods of payment have generally caused delays in the billing process and a lot of frustration for customers. For this reason, we strongly urge you to pay via credit card.

If paying by cash: Every month you will have to physically bring your cash payment to the nearest AAA Band Rentals affiliate store. Do not mail cash.

If paying by check: You can follow the same procedure as if paying by cash, or you can mail a check to: P.O. Box 2034, Norwalk, CT 06852.

Q. What EXACT day will I be billed?

We bill the credit card on file on a weekly basis determined by your original contract date. Refer to the following table for exact date specific to you:

Original Date of Contract Billing Date
Days 1-7 of the month 1st of the month
Days 8-14 of the month 8th of the month
Days 15-21 of the month 15th of the month
Days 22-31 of the month 22nd of the month

Q. If a rental is returned before its due date, can I receive a refund or credit?

Yes, but only if it is returned within an allotted time frame (within 7 days of when that month’s rental payment was received).

Here is an example to better explain our refund policy:

John rents an instrument for one month, and pays the monthly rental fee on June 1st.

- He returns the instrument on June 7th: FULL REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

- He returns the instrument on June 8th: NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN.

Q. What happens if I fall behind on my monthly payments?

If your monthly payment is not received on time, we will send a courtesy reminder (consisting of 1 email or letter and 1 automated phone call) that your payment is due. We will send 1 “reminder” per week as long as the payment is still due.

If we do not receive a response from you within 10 days of when your payment was due, a $10 Late Fee will be added to your account’s balance.

If we do not receive a response from you within 1 month of when your payment was due, we will send out a “Final Warning Letter” via certified mail.

If we do not receive a response from you within 2 months of when your payment was due, we will send your file to the police, and you will be contacted by a detective. In addition, a 30% collection fee will be added to your account’s balance.
